The Grind: Walking Dead by Triple Crowns

The Grind: Walking Dead by Triple Crowns
By Sarah Mulcahy

Alright, folks. Strap into your riot gear and check your clip, it’s The Grind banging on your boarded up door to bring you a fresh (climbing outta the coffin fresh!) strain review. Keep coming back for more reviews this week (with a very special theme!) and see if you can figure out the famous couple we are impersonating for Halloween this year!!

Now, to the review!!

Triple Crowns is headquartered in Humptulips, Hoquiam, Washington. Humptulips is a Salish word meaning “hard to pole” in reference to the difficulty of poling a boat or canoe up the Humptulips River (a.k.a. The Hump).

In this river hamlet just north-ish of Aberdeen and across the North Bay from Ocean Shores, Triple Crowns creates “ocean grown” marijuana. Their indoor growing process includes unchlorinated spring-well water and filtered ocean air. With a hands-on approach and a true love of bud, these Grays Harbor County growers are truly making waves.

Walking Dead is an earthy sativa with a somewhat citrusy scent. The bud was fluffy but not very dense, and it was extremely dry. My one issue with this strain were the number of seeds (at least 20 with three that were viable), or hippie grenades as my husband’s co-worker calls them, contained in my gram of weed. The nug had to be completely broken up to remove all the seeds. Highly recommending joints or blunts for this strain, if seeds are a consistent problem.

Other than the hippie grenades, this weed was fairly pleasant. It was a bit rough on the throat during inhale and exhale but minimal coughing. Definitely not too rough on the lungs or chest. The high set in quickly but gently and lasted about two hours. With an energetic boost, if unfocused, and a low-key overall feel, I would say that Walking Dead is great for a day off or a little boost after work.

  1. Update: got some love and input from Triple Crowns via Instagram re: the hippie grenades, and apparently this strain was intended for breeding purposes and some made its way into the retail circuit. Definitely gonna look into some other strains from these guys, especially since I'm a sucker for customer service and they gave it that personal touch! Thanks for reading! And special thanks to Triple Crowns for the info and extra effort! Keep calm and smoke on!
